Thornfield

You were someone, once. Now you're wearing a dead boy's face.

A traffic accident on Earth, and then a forest road on the Frontier, and a body that isn't yours dying of a wound you didn't earn. You wake enrolled at Thornfield Academy under a name you read off a mud-soaked scroll before you understood it was yours to answer to. There is no way back to the life you had. There is only the one in front of you, and the work of deciding whether to make it real.

Caleo finds you first. Barefoot, plain-spoken, a street witch from the town below the academy. He feeds you before he asks you anything. He has been looking, without knowing it, for exactly what you are.

A slow-burn male love story, dark in places and warm in others, told in second person as the old magic under the continent stirs awake for the first time in three hundred years. It is a serial: read as a complete, shaped story so far, and new chapters arrive as they're written.

Free to read, no account needed. Adult content, 18+. New chapters reach Patrons first.

The world & the cast

Magic on the Frontier is not a force but a condition of the land, and for three centuries it has been thinning toward nothing. The Church teaches that it liberated the Frontier from witchcraft. What it actually did was finish a job the dying magic had already mostly done. Now, for the first time in generations, something under the continent is stirring, and you arrive knowing none of it.

Who you'll meet
Caleo. The barefoot street witch who decides to keep you. The town below the academy calls him the Mayor.
Kai. The best friend and the bad idea, who makes everything a joke until someone gets hurt.
Edric. The scholar whose first words to you are "leave me alone," and whose story opens when you choose not to push.
Finn. Found family, proof that the deepest bonds don't all have the same shape.

Verdant Adept

Two bonded best friends growing into power together.

Elio and Vale have always moved through the world together: best friends, training partners, and the kind of inseparable pair everyone notices before either of them knows how to explain it.

At Second Gate Academy, their attempt to advance should have been routine. Instead, the System rejects them from the trial, classifies them as something it does not fully understand, and binds their survival to distance, touch, and shared strain.

What begins as an Academy mystery becomes a journey far beyond the life they expected: river ships, pirates, corporate families, dangerous magic, found family, and the slow discovery that their bond is not a weakness to be corrected, but a power that changes the shape of every fight.

A separate interactive build from the Thornfield shelf. Best friends, Academy trials, bonded magic, and dangerous tenderness.

The cast
Elio. Warm, artistic, musical, and prone to terrible jokes when the room gets too heavy.
Vale. Elio's oldest friend and anchor: quieter, precise, practical, and dangerous in a controlled way.
Finn. Bright, kinetic, and impossible to ignore, turning embarrassment into performance and fear into momentum.
Banks. Finn's steady counterweight, calm and sharp, with dry comments that land hard because he uses so few of them.
Instructor Jin. A disciplined Academy instructor who teaches through principle, posture, and exact questions.
Barnaby. Gruff ship's officer, reluctant caretaker, and professional enemy of foolishness.

The next book
Another interactive novel is planned for this shelf. It gets announced here first.

Written by one person, kept going by readers.

These books have no team and no publisher. Every chapter is written by one person, and Patrons make the next one possible. They also read ahead: new chapters land on Patreon before they reach the free build, alongside extended cuts and the occasional book that lives there first.
